During the meeting with the newly appointed Russian ambassador to Azerbaijan, Mikhail Yevdokimov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, again voiced the proposal of using the Aghdam road to “meet the demands” of Karabakh Armenians.

During Monday’s meeting, the importance of the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Russia within the framework of bilateral and multilateral agreements, in the conditions of neighborliness, friendship and mutual understanding was emphasized, APA reported.

In particular, according to the report, it was noted that in accordance with the declaration of allied cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia, the two countries build their relations on the basis of respecting the principles of independence, state sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

"It was noted that the interpretation of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan from the Armenian side does not correspond to the noted frameworks. It was emphasized that the statements that the ‘tense humanitarian situation’ has allegedly become more difficult in connection with the activities of the Lachin border checkpoint distort the reality," the report stated.

Bayramov emphasized that the Azerbaijani side has created conditions for the passage of the Armenian population through the Lachin checkpoint.

"At the same time, it was noted that the Aghdam [(Akna)]-Khankendi [(Stepanakert)] road can be used to meet the demands of the Armenian residents of Azerbaijan," the report stated.
