Concrete agreements reached: Armenian FM sums up Turkey trip

Armenia and Turkey have agreed to step up the normalization process and efforts to reopen the border between the two countries, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan told a cabinet meeting on Thursday, summing up his latest visit to earthquake-hit Turkey.

Mirzoyan noted that concrete agreements were reached in Ankara, including on the joint restoration of the historic Ani Bridge.

“Before the start of the tourist season, we will try to complete the process of opening the land border for citizens of third countries as well as persons holding diplomatic passports,” Mirzoyan said.

He also highlighted positive response in Turkey to the Armenian team’s search and rescue efforts.

At a news conference with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu on Wednesday, Mirzoyan expressed Armenia's readiness to build peace with Turkey “in these difficult times”.
