Russia ambassador to Baku: Azerbaijan-Armenia settlement process cornerstone should be economy
Three main directions can be distinguished regarding the Azerbaijani-Armenian settlement. Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mikhail Bocharnikov said this in an interview with Haqqin.az.
"One of them is the restoration of economic and transport links. The other two are border delimitation and the signing of a peace agreement. I believe it would not be correct to say that these three directions of the negotiation process are not closely related to each other. But at the same time delay in one of the directions can negatively affect the other negotiations. Now, apparently, this is exactly what is happening. But I will repeat again: the peace treaty is a political issue. To some extent, the topic of border delimitation also can be considered political, while the unblocking of roads and routes is purely economic. I believe that in general, it would not be bad for the process to revise the system of priorities and consider the economy itself as a cornerstone," said the Russian ambassador to Azerbaijan.
