Macron confirms France's readiness to support normalization of relations between Yerevan and Baku
French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed the stabilizing effect of the EU civilian mission along the Armenian border, he said during a telephone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
According to the Elysee Palace, Macron reiterated France's full readiness to support the process of normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and to achieve a political solution in the region which will allow to establish peace on a lasting basis.
Macron will have an opportunity to meet with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the sidelines of the XVIII Francophone Summit in Djerba on November 19.
In turn, the press service of the Azerbaijani President said that Aliyev stressed the importance of demonstrating "a neutral, impartial and balanced approach in the process of normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan."
Aliyev also noted that the statements presented by the Armenian side in recent days allegedly "contradict the normalization of relations between the two countries and the peace agenda."
