Indian company to supply 155mm self-propelled artillery guns worth $155mln to Armenia

The Indian company will supply 155mm self-propelled artillery systems for the sum of $155mln to Armenia.

Pune-based Bharat Forge announced that its subsidiary Kalyani Strategic Systems has received an export order for a 155mm artillery platform to be manufactured within a three-year period, Business Standard reported.

"The total value of the order is $155.5 million," the company said in a statement.

Bharat Forge did not announce the name of the purchasing country or the type of weapon to be exported. However, sources in the Ministry of Defense (MoD) confirmed that the purchasing country is Armenia, and the order consists of 155-mm .39-caliber howitzers, which are mounted on trucks to ensure mobility.

The Armenian order will include the purchase of four to five regiments of 155mm MLR artillery systems (MGS). Each regiment will consist of 18 to 20 guns.

This order will have a significant impact on the growth of overall defense exports.
