Pashinyan at EAEU meeting: Fundamental principles of world economic system in question
The world economy is experiencing bad times: trade, industrial and logistics ties, which have just begun to recover from the pandemic, are undergoing new shocks. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in his welcoming remarks at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Yerevan on Thursday.
"The fundamental principles of the world economic system have come into question. In the current unstable economic realities there is no doubt about the need and relevance of the periodic dialogue at the highest level, for a more coherent and coordinated interaction․ Mutual understanding of many and readiness for compromise and cooperation can be the key to solving many issues. In this context, I would like to stress the daily work, in the literal sense of the word, within the EAEU to develop a coordinated response to the problems arising at all levels," Pashinyan said.
The meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council started in Yerevan on Thursday.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko, Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov, Kyrgyz Cabinet Chairman Akylbek Japarov and Eurasian Economic Commission Board Chairman Mikhail Myasnikovich arrived in Armenia to take part in the session.
The narrow and extended sessions will discuss agenda issues related to the development of integration processes in the Eurasian space.
Special attention will be paid to the digital agenda, in particular the prospects of development and improvement of the Union's information system, the development of a unified analytical system of managing electronic trade in goods.
The process of preparing agreements on forming a common gas market as well as oil and oil products markets will be discussed. As a result, it is planned to sign decisions on further development of Eurasian economic integration.
