    Raisi to Pashinyan: Iran-Armenia connection should not be threatened

    Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on the sidelines of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

    Pashinyan spoke at length about Azerbaijan's large-scale aggression against Armenia's sovereign territory and its consequences, and emphasized the importance of an adequate response from the international community, including Iran, to condemn Azerbaijan's actions and withdraw Azerbaijan's military units from Armenia's sovereign territory, Armenian Government press service informed NEWS.am. Pashinyan expressed satisfaction with Iran's clear assessments and stressed the close bilateral cooperation in the current situation.

    Ebrahim Raisi said that Iran is following closely the developments in the region and added that all the problems should be settled in a peaceful way. According to him, Iran has a clear position on the territorial integrity of states and inadmissibility of border changes in the region, and Iran's ties with Armenia must not be jeopardized. Raisi stressed that his country is ready to support the establishment of peace in the region, adding that the issue of Armenia's security is important for Iran.

    The interlocutors exchanged their ideas on further developing and expanding the cooperation of the two countries in different spheres.

    Other issues of mutual interest were also mentioned.
