    Pashinyan holds phone calls with Blinken, Putin and Macron

    Nikol Pashinyan held separate phone calls with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Russian President Vladimir Putin and French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday, the Armenian government's press office reported.

    In his conversation with Blinken, Pashinyan presented details about the situation created as a result of the aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan on the sovereign territory of Armenia. He noted that although tranquility can be observed along the border, the situation remains very tense.

    "Antony Blinken expressed condolences for the victims of the hostilities and reaffirmed the United States' willingness to promote peace and dialogue," the readout of the call said.

    The interlocutors also referred to the discussions regarding Armenia’s application to the UN Security Council. The Armenian premier once again emphasized the importance of an adequate reaction of the international community to what is happening.

    In their phone talks, Pashinyan and Putin touched on the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

    "Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that despite the relative tranquility at the border, the situation caused by Azerbaijan's aggression against the sovereign territory of Armenia remains very tense.

    "The Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of the Russian Federation discussed issues related to the implementation of the decisions made regarding Armenia's application to the Collective Security Treaty Organization," reads the statement.

    The government readout of the call between the Armenian and French leaders said Emmanuel Macron reaffirmed his willingness to promote peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

    "The Prime Minister presented details about the situation created as a result of the aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against the sovereign territory of Armenia. Nikol Pashinyan noted that despite the relative tranquility at the border, the situation remains very tense.

    "Emmanuel Macron reaffirmed his willingness to promote dialogue and peace.

    "The interlocutors also referred to the discussions regarding Armenia's application to the UN Security Council. Prime Minister Pashinyan emphasized the importance of an adequate reaction of the international community to what is happening," the statement said.
