Many have selected Turkish, Azerbaijani language courses in Armenia schools, says education minister
During the 44-day war [in the fall of 2020], we saw the level of our enemies' command of Armenian on the battlefield. They have been trained and are still being trained—including in schools. Vahram Dumanyan, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, said this at Thursday’s press briefing at the government of Armenia.
"We have offered Turkish and Azerbaijani [language courses] as an optional subject—and only in high schools. And many have selected Turkish and Azerbaijani. When I asked the principal of one of the schools, he told me that the reasons are the same as among Azerbaijanis. We need to be ready to resolve this important matter," the minister added.
