Azerbaijani-Kazakhstan expert council created
Memorandum on the creation of Azerbaijani-Kazakhstan expert council was signed in Baku during the roundtable dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, own correspondent of MIA "Kazinform" reports.
On behalf of the two countries, the document was signed by Farid Shafiyev, chairman of the Board of the Center for Analysis of International Relations (CAIR), and Erkin Tukumov, director of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of Kazakhstan.
As the parties noted, the latest geopolitical challenges call for a proper assessment not only between the two countries but between the states of the region as well. Establishment of the Council will stimulate a timely response of these countries to the developments in the region and their proper assessment. It is expected that after the signing of the memorandum the work of the think tanks of the two countries will be activated, and joint intellectual products such as reports, analytical calculations, etc. will be elaborated.
Azerbaijani MPs, members of the group on inter-parliamentary relations with Kazakhstan, diplomats of the Kazakh Embassy in Baku, heads of leading universities of Azerbaijan, representatives of the "Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan Friendship Society named after Heydar Aliyev" and the expert community attended the event as well.
Erkin Tukumov pointed out that the creation of the council is a historical process of no formal nature. "In the very near future we will hold the first organizational meeting to acquaint the members of the Expert Council with each other and exchange views on our future joint activities. To start with, we could create a virtual bank of ideas, with the subsequent specification of projects," the speaker noted. Farid Shafiyev, head of the Azerbaijani CAMO, stressed that very serious events are taking place today in both countries and the region. Sometimes the reactions from the press do not properly reflect what is happening in the region.
In this regard, he added that the council will contribute to a proper assessment of the current challenges and realities. Issues related to humanitarian, political and economic spheres will also be discussed.
