Sweden and Finland submit applications to NATO
The ambassadors of Sweden and Finland handed over their applications to join the alliance to NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg at NATO headquarters in Brussels on Wednesday.
The handover ceremony was broadcast on NATO's website.
On Tuesday, Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson announced that Finland and Sweden would jointly apply to join the North Atlantic Alliance on 18 May.
