US bans energy imports from Russia
US President Joe Biden said the US is banning energy imports from Russia.
The head of the White House noted that this decision was supported by both the Democratic and Republican parties. Further, the head of the state stressed that allies in Europe will not be able to join the ban on energy imports from Russia.
Biden acknowledged that this decision would have a negative impact on the United States, however, stressed that "I had to take this step."
Earlier, Senator Chris Koons warned that a ban on purchases of Russian oil could lead to a global energy crisis in the United States.
Today, the retail price of a gallon of gasoline in the US updated its historical maximum, exceeding the mark of $4.17, the previous record of $4.11 per gallon was set in July 2008.
