Ex-President Kocharyan: Armenia authorities are among number 1 headaches today

The second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, has issued a statement. It reads as follows:

"In the face of the extremely difficult challenges facing Armenia and Artsakh [(Nagorno-Karabakh)], these [Armenian] authorities have concentrated all their resources on persecuting, torturing, arresting the opposition members at any cost, and keeping them under arrest with the utmost efforts. (…). Today, we are no longer surprised even by the arrest of a judge for administering justice.

This is a new yardstick of legal disgrace [in Armenia]. This is a special operation to abolish the independence of the [country’s] judiciary, and a new wave of intimidation with arrest. What is happening is the destruction of the country of law, with the silent support of international organizations.

All this shows that the authorities are weak and incapable of facing difficult challenges. Instead, they do everything to break the resistance inside. It is obvious that the authorities are among the number one headaches today [in Armenia].

These processes can not last long; they will eventually near the end, as no authorities can absorb this amount of illegalities. The time to answer will come soon."
