Armenian government program envisages normalization of relations with Turkey and security of Karabakh

The program of the Armenian government for 2021-2026, adopted at its yesterday's meeting in Yerevan, provides for the normalization of relations with Turkey.

“The absence of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Turkey, closed borders, as well as Turkey's open participation in the 44-day war negatively affect peace and sustainable development in the region. Armenia has always been ready to normalize relations with Turkey without preconditions, which meets the interests of stability, security and economic development in the region. Today the Republic of Armenia is ready to make efforts to normalize relations with Turkey. Moving forward without preconditions, the parties must work together to create an atmosphere of mutual trust in order to gradually establish normal relations,” reads the program published in the Armenian press.

The same program notes that Armenia will continue to be the guarantor of the security of the people of Karabakh. At the same time, it is said that this security "will be provided by the Defense Army." The presence of Russian peacekeeping forces is the most reliable guarantee of this.
