Tbilisi and Baku discuss restoration of railway communication
Passenger railway communication on the Tbilisi-Baku-Tbilisi route will be restored after the opening of land borders with Azerbaijan, the Georgian Railway Company (GRC) reported on June 7.
“Work is underway with Azerbaijan to simplify the rules for admitting Azerbaijani citizens when entering Georgia,” the Georgian media quoted the head of the Ministry of Economy.
Due to the threat of the spread of coronavirus, the Azerbaijani government has extended until August 1 the ban on the entry of foreign citizens into the country, with the exception of cargo transportation.
According to unofficial data, Baku may open the land border with Georgia on June 15. Those who have a COVID passport and a negative coronavirus test will be able to cross it.
