Azerbaijan and Georgia intend to deepen strategic partnership

Relations between the Azerbaijani and Georgian peoples are based on a centuries-old history of good-neighborliness and friendship, and this is a very good basis for the development of current relations, which demonstrate great dynamics, the head of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated during today's meeting with the Prime Minister of Georgia.

Pointing to the implementation of joint energy and transport projects by the two countries, Aliyev noted that they "changed the political, economic, transport and energy map of the region."

“Without a strong partnership of our countries, the implementation of these projects would have been impossible,” he added, noting that at the very end of 2020 another project, the Southern Gas Corridor was launched.

“This project is important not only for the South Caucasus, but also for the entire Eurasian region in terms of overall development, stability, and cooperation. Therefore, I am deeply grateful to the Georgian government for its continued support of this important project. All other initiatives that we started together have a good success story. I am sure that this will continue, "Aliyev said, recalling that Azerbaijan remains one of the largest investors in the Georgian economy.

“This is also a good indicator of a favorable investment climate. I know that many Azerbaijani companies want to work in your country, and I am sure that it will be so,” Aliyev said.

In turn, the Georgian prime minister wrote on his Twitter account, "Today I had an excellent meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev." According to him, issues of strategic partnership were discussed at the meeting.

“We discussed topics of mutual interest, the importance of peaceful resolution of conflicts, development of cooperation in the economic, energy and trade spheres, implementation of regional projects,” Garibashvili said.
