Moscow proposes dialogue with Washington on strategic stability
Russia has proposed to engage in dialogue with the United States on strategic stability, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Tuesday.
"I would like to note that we have already proposed the Biden administration to engage in dialogue on strategic stability in line with Vladimir Putin's statements," the diplomat said in a statement.
According to him, Moscow also offered Washington to discuss the formation of a conflict-free environment.
Ryabkov said that the global arms control system, both its concept and components, undergo a crisis "against the background of a painful transformation of the system of international relations," mainly associated with the desire of the U.S. and its allies not only to consolidate a dominant position, but also expand opportunities to assert military-political pressure on competitors.
"The United States believes in the possibility of achieving absolute security for itself. Due to this, arms control is largely becoming a liability, a burden for them," the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister explained.
