President Zurabishvili called international community to ‘strongly react’
Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili has called on the international community to ‘strongly react’ to the ‘grave situation’ in the Russia-occupied region of Tskhinvali (South Ossetia), Agenda.ge reports.
President Zurabishvili referred to the recent death of a 28-year-old Inal Dzhabiev on August 28, which caused wide public outcry in the occupied region.
Salome Zurabishvili asked the heads of the United Nations and the European Union as well as co-chairs of the Geneva International Discussions to use all of their levers to avoid escalations in Tskhinvali as well as to ensure public safety on the ground.
Expressing its ‘deep concern’ over the recent death of Dzhabiev the Georgian State Ministry for Reconciliation and Civic Equality also called on its partners to ‘continue pressure’ on the de facto leadership to stop human rights violations on the ground.
